Hi guys.
I just bought a new motor.
the CY27RS and runs on 91 octane.
they say to use the R+M/2 octane rating methode.
what is that formula?
do you raise your octane using those little octane bottle or the octane oil?
thanks for your rplies.

Different countries have different ratings scales for the same fuel.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating
I would ignore anything other than what it says to use for Octane.

they say 91 or better fuel.
do they mean higher octane?
how high of octane can one go?

I would use 91 if that is what they say, for a couple of reasons.
1 is the fact it is designed to run on 91
2 Higher octane is more money and unless you are racing it wont matter much to you
3 Higher octane is more money
4 Higher octane is more money

Sorry, I've to Hijack this thread. Just for my interest, your regular fuel have 87 octane???
OMG how do your cars(real) run?
Here in Europe:
Regular 91 Octane
Super 95 Octane
Super Plus 98 - 100 Octane (Shell offers 100 all others 98)
In my Zenoah I use a 1:33 mixture Castrol RS 2T and Super Plus with 98 Octane.

Different countries have different formulas for coming up with numbers
Europe's 91 I believe is the same as Canada's 89
I think my first link up top explains it a bit.

I would not worry so much on the octane... many people use camp fuel which is way under these number with no problem at all. I've gone back to regular fuel here in canada. But I'm one of those crazy people that has a head kit motor and want to put the 20:1 head button in and run methonal... just to see if it makes more power! But I ran high grade fuel with the head kit motor, and now am running regular with the 28.5 reed ported motor. The only thing I found was that im not running the right heat range plug, have to go to a hotter plug.
