Ok it has finally come down to this....

Redcat Rampage TT V2 with:
26cc Zenoah-G270RC-4-bolt-black
DDM Tuned Pipe Redcat Rampage-Chrome
Futuba 3PM Radio
Outerwears-Pullstart Cover
Outerwears-Prefilter
TGN Redneck Dual Stage for stock filter
1 CY Dual Stage Air Filter for Zenoah and CY Engines
Total with a discount works out to be:$1450.00 so to canadian conversion about $1550.00

The FG Baja 4x4 RTR with:
DDM Pipe RPM Chrome
Airtronics MX Sport radio
Outerwears prefilter drawstring, Pullstart cover
2 stock filters
TGN Redneck prefilter
HPI Oil filter
Total with discount is:$1675.00 to canadian conversion...about $1750

I know the Redcat is cheaper to maintain...and the FG parts are sometimes double of redcats...and the Redcat's components are easier to get to then the FG. But from what ppl have been telling me the FG is built better hands down, so less fixing. I'm not looking to bash hard or do track....just to have fun on road, dirt, and grass. Heard the FG is like a lawn mower on grass...how is the Redcat?? My local hobby store quoted me $1900 for the same FG as stated above and told me not to go with the redcat as they come in more for repairs and parts as opposed to FG......it has come down to these 2 so which one should I get??? All input is appreciated!!!!!!

As said in my other post i would go with the redcat TT change the stock servos it will be a good basher and more durable i have ran 3 tanks of gas in mine so far my JR throttle servo caused my truck to run off and hit a full size van and all it broke was the outer steering hub 15.00 dollar part. If it was me i would put the 75mhz FM or the 2.4 DSM radio in ether of the buggies

The FG is 10 times more durable than the red cat in my opinion. I have seen both in action and the I would put my money on the German car over China any day of the week.

I have both the Redcat MT and an FG Baja Comp and if I was just buying one I personally would buy the FG over the Redcat, but I would also by the FG Comp and not the RTR version. I would say go for the Redcat as it is not a bad car, but $1500 seems a little high to me for the Redcat. I think around $1000 or less is where the Redcat should be, but I am not too familiar with Canadian pricing.

With either buggy I am sure you are going to want to do some upgrading, so I would figure in those costs also. Like racetruck stated, the stock servos on the Redcat will need replacing. Also I personally feel the stock roll cage is useless and does nothing to protect the car. You might also want to get yourself and good set of bearings, better air filter and a set of steel drive gears. As for the FG I am not familiar with the RTR version but I don’t have high hopes for the stock servos, I have yet to see RTR electronics that I have liked. I am sure there are other parts that will need upgrading, but like I said I am not too familiar with the RTR version.

I know both your options are buggies but DDM has a few versions of the FG Comp on sale and clearance. They will need electronics as neither of them comes with any, but you will probably have to buy better servos for your other options anyway. Not to mention they are more than both options you are considering, but in my opinion well worth the extra price. Also, I don’t know what the shipping would be, I believe you are in Canada, so that is something you would have to consider. I am sure if you email them they can hook you up with a great deal.

I am sure you will be happy with either one, as they are both good buggies.:)

The 5T does handle well considering it is 2wd. Again there are a few upgrades you will probably want to do with it but it is pretty decent out of the box. Here is a video of my 5T; it is all stock except for the VRC pipe, Excavator tires and Spektrum radio. As you will see in the video I gave it a good beating and it did extremely well. I lost the e-clip on the front axle and stripped a spur gear, but that was due to me landing on full throttle. In the end I don’t think it is a question of which one to get, I think it is a question if which one you are going to get first. This is an addictive hobby and something tells me you will probably end up with more than just one of the cars on your list.;)

Here are some videos of the Rampage MT and the FG Baja Comp also. The FG is the one with the red and yellow truck body in the beginning of the video.

I have to say that was VERY Impressive!!!! I looked at prices here at my LHS here but it runs at $1599.00. With the upgrades like a HPI pipe...Spectrum radio...and a Aluminum rear tower brace....about $2000.00 canadian here. At innovativehobbies...its listed there $1229.99 US. With an upgraded Spectrum radio, Outerwears Pull start cover, Redneck TGN prefilter, Pro Pump 1 gallon Fueler, All works out to be $1510.41 US after a 5% discount...but with the US conversion to Canadian dollars/shipping/brokerage fees....Just under $1750.00 US. Thinking about it......damn you!!!
