Well got this motor installed now, I am following there instructions by breaking in the motor. They say to break it in on 3 tanks of fuel. Not sure if I will have the patients to do this. I'm through 1 tank of fuel, I'm running very rich right now. Will get out tommorow and start to lean it out some more. Even being so rich this motor has tonns of bottom end! Cant wait to get it out this weekend.

Shouldn't we find a Camera first??!! :D

Chadster is busy the next 4 weekends, sold the house so he is packing and cleaning, no Cameraman for awhile. :(

We have so many reviews to do, 3 in the process now.

I've been wanting to get a reed motor but was not confident until I hear actual testimonials. I am anxious to hear your review and see a video.

Im wondering if a reeded engine's performance is worth the price.

If you are racing and you need every last bit of power then reed would be the way to go.
If you are bashing and reliability and fuel economy count then there are much cheaper engines out there.

Now that I have started leaning out the motor... still running a little on the rich side. I can say this motor has more then enough bottom end, to the point where I think I need better tires to hook up more. Reliablitlty should not go down any, the motors are ported to bring out the full potentail of the motor. I have lost some fuel economy, but for the price of power. At first I was not too sure about this motor, but now that I've leaned it out some more I'm almost scared of the power.

I am just bashing and you mentioned other options. Could you please enlighten me as to what my options are? I bash on street and loose dirt usually.

Wow sorry missed this for some time... Do you have a new motor yet? Are you looking for torque or speed? Many many many options out there, all depends on what your looking for an end result and how much do you want to spend.

How are the fuel consumption on the Reed Engine?

Can it run 30 minutes at race speed, on a single tank of gas?

Akela

with the baja tank yes I'm still getting well over 1/2 an hour run times. Will have to find out how bad it really is one of these days... but to tell you the truth I'm still getting about the same run times that I was using the 29cc head kit motor.

I was thinking of going to the 29cc head kit next as it seems like good value for money, whats your valued opinion on the conversion kit or is it better to wait and go for a new engine?

Akela

get the conversion, no real need for a new motor yet... someone's got to tell that to me!

I was wondering how the motor was preforming for you, i need the top end of a 26 but i dont wanna sacrifce the bottom.I have been waiting on Oneil's to Release the reed 27.2 ive talked to them and it was suppose to be released last week. How does their version of the reed stack up to the proline peice.

Akela, Should I tell them you sucked dirt into the engine? Never mind I will let you tell them LOL!!

Akela
08-28-2007, 06:45 AM
yeah but I sucked it in through a broken exhaust... think it was that broken tgn pipe...

that sucks i would love to see that thing move, RRP has released the go fast gearing! 18/55 makes me reconsider the 28.5 alot more...........

VertigoPerformance

I really like RRP products, have many of their gears but I wonder if the added rotating mass at the spur will actually affect one of these engines or whether the difference would be so little the gearing will more than make up for it. I myself would like less bottom end and more top end.

slowpokeRRR

well this is the gear set for you!

I would wait for oneill's to launch their 27.2 reed ported motor, the zenoahs are just a better built motor that will last a longer time then the cy's
