Clutch Bell screw

Any one had the screw that hold the pinion gear to the clutch bell snap? Now I got to tap it out.:mad:

I've never had this happen to me (knock on wood). But if you have a good screw extrator it is not to hard to get it out.

Me and my buddy at work was runnin it for about an hour ramin each others cars, after that we chilled for a couple hours. Then right before it was time to go home We decided to run our Bajas again, after bout 5 mins mine stoped. Bell was spinnin but car aint movin.:mad:

In the USA what hardware stores for you have near by? ACE maybe?

The bells have through holes, if you heat it up and use a screw extractor to break the loctite it should come out.
If you take the part in with you a knowledgeable sales person should be able to set you up with the right size extractor.
I have one in my kit now for other things, they are a great tool to have.
You will also need to buy a better screw. Dark black screws tend to be poorer quality, dirty black/grey is a sign of better material (Screws made in Europe)

I think we have one at my shop, but I will go to ACE hardware just incase

Thats has happened to a lot of people.HPI may have had a bad run on those screws.

It might happen because it comes loose? that one bolt puts up with alot of abuse, Heat, pressure

Well I just had one bolt bend on me, then the next time out had the replacement snap... What I have done now is put a longer bolt in there, if it snaps again I will be able to pull it out easy at the track with a pair of vise grips.

this was a problem with bajas that were being produced about 3 months ago

the screw was being put in to tight and either destroying the thread in the hole or snapping off
both resulting in a loss of drive
