I am reading another board today and see that someone is unhappy they only got one gallon through on a set of Tarmac tires.. ONE GALLON!!!!!

This person must have never owned an onroad RC car before and what do they expect when putting tarmac tires on a car with no sway bars and set up for dirt.

Imagine getting a gallon out of a set of touring car tires? or a gallon on 4 sets of touring car tires would even be great...

This is for all those baja owners that happen to have the Baja as their first RC car..

Tires are a replacement part and you cannot expect too much from tires, after all they are just rubber.. Tires, Gas and spark Plugs.. all items that with regular use need to be replaced often. :D

Only one gallon, is a lot of fuel for a set of tires to go through! I'd be happy if I got half a gallong through a set. I'm even happy when I get a gallon on a set of off road tires. The tires for the baja are cheap if you ask me, just because you dont need to change them that often. They are a real good tire!

You also heve to remeber the softer the tire the better it works but the faster it burns up ,so if it is a give and take.

1 gallon, that is aprox 4 hours....

Racers in Europe typically use 1 set of tires for one race day.
A Yearly consumption of 72 pairs of tires is NOT uncommon, for a serius Large Scale Onroad Racer

One German Large Scale Racers tyre use:

Training:
Rear tyre: 1 session
Front Tyre: 2 Sessions

Racing: 1 front and 1 rear + maybe an additional set for the Final.

I don't remember how often He trains, but his Tyre/wheel stack for 2006 was 72 pairs of tyres, or about US$ 3500-4500 (If memory serves me right, He buys them pre-glued)

When I used to race 1/8th on road, my Serpent 950 would go through tires like no tomorrow. I was just glad to be sponsored and got my stuff either free or really cheap, else I would have been spending literally thousands.
