well we all know that the stock baja shocks are not the best. So how are we going to fix this? I saw that someone is making a bigger diameter sock shaft, but is this the fix? I say no, this may cause other issues. I say this because when the shock is fully compressed, it is full of fluid. But when the shock is fully extended, how can it still be full of fluid?
I find the major problem with the shocks is the amount of piston slop. I think taking care of this would help stop the shafts from bending.
Any other thoughts?

Piston slop is a serious problem and the main problem. I have been informed buy a titanium guru that Ti will not solve the problem.. Using larger shock shafts pose their own issues especially if you use the stock O rings, they are too small for the shafts.. I am hoping HPI is working on something because I think for the average user shocks seem to be the only issue.. Akela and I had our buggies out this weekend in a sand pit.. WHAT A BLAST!!!

But how cool would it be to say you have Ti shock shafts. Half the upgrades I do is based on that factor only. If it gets me 5 mental horsepower then thats great.

LOL!! It would be cool...

I have neen running 20wt fork oil on the biggest piston setting and only bent shaft during real hard crash type of landings. I love to jump my baja, I am one of the guys in the dumont videos from HPI and only bent one shaft last time during a flat landing about 60' out.

guess I'll try the biggest setting on the piston

run the back of your car high, dont try to set it up like a normal rc car, on normal rc car we run the arms or bone level, I like my Baja with just alittle sage, and I run the front about the same

I did notice that when you run with aluminum a arms;) the shafts seem to bend less often.

Yes It Keeps the shocks inline more so they dont bind as easy, I moved the bottom of the shock foward about 1/4 inch

And they do work good too! I guess the wife was right after all, a 1/4 of an inch CAN make a difference! LOL! :D

I run my shocks 3 turns further (3mm) Jumps far nicer than stock setting.

I have been testing a larger dia shock shaft with a new lower cap
and i will say for the averge baja owner this will be a great setup.
I did bend the rears one time testing, came up short on a huge double.
that landing would have bent anything. For now i use 20% over springs
from ddm,15wt hd oil and damping hole on large opening. Was thinking
about moding fg shocks but they cost alot of money to mess with.

Over springing and under dampening can cause a whole bank of problems itself.. Are you noticing any extra bounce when cruisin' high speed on bumpy terrain?

The only time I bend shock shaft are when I am jumping HUGE and it does not land right.
Large holes 15-20 wt.
