Whats wrong with the stock silicone oil? You can get thicker diff oil for more traction at the expense of steering. You don't want to go to grease in a viscous torque diff though.

So you think the stock oil willbe okay lunar wolf

i've not had a problem with it, traction seems okay. Change it when your supposed to and use the amount the manual says and you should be good.

I agree with lunar ,do not use grease in the viscous setup....If you want too use a higher diff lube that if alright also.. I'am running Team Assoaciated (AE 10,000 wt) and that is perfect for me... you can buy different diff lube at most LHS or online....I bought mine from Tower Since I placed an order there..

10,000 is about as high as I would go in the diff. Take your time putting the oil in, make sure it is filled half full

I also agree with Lunar and Hndaman. I run the stock 1000 wt in mine and it works just fine. I did run 10000 wt in it before, but went back to the 1000 wt.

When I changed out my diff case from the RTR to the SS diff case I actally went down to 600wt diff oil.

The reason is that a tight diff scrubs off speed in the corners. A car with loose diffs will coast through the corners more easily, without scrubbing off much speed. Low speed steering is much better and power is easier to get to the ground on slick surfaces.

but I'm not in conditions that most are faced with.

BKC, can you link me to 600wt or less oil? We dont get blue grove... or even clay tracks here. I could see the advantage of going to a very light weight oil for very loomy conditions.

Akela I use Mugen oils because they are avalible in my area and they have 100wt all the way up to 100,000wt

BKC, thanks never thought of using shock oil. Might have to give it a try.

You should try out our hobby stores, was at one today... They still have parts for Bolinks, and a few other RC's that no one has... but no parts to cars that anyone does have!

Akela, no where on the bottle does it say shock oil, just super silocon oil, unless you can explain the differeance between 100% pure silicon shock oil and 100% pure silicon diff oil , I'm have to beleive silicon oil is silicon oil. I mean how does mugen filter out the diff silicon from the shock silicon??:D :p
