I just replaced my stockers out for a futaba 9351 for throttle and brake, and a hitec 1/4 scale 5745 for steering. Nice little upgrade from stockers, fast and accurate. Plus the metal blue horn that comes with the hitec is the same thread size as the steering link bolt. Very simple little swap.

Let us know how the 5745 works out, Hitec told me it is very similar to the Multiplex, different gears and electronics but essential the same servo if that makes any sense I think is hasn't the same software that protects it from end point burn out)
They are quoted as saying the 5745 is a less money servo because Multiplex commands a higher price.. :)

I have tryed many servos I personly like the HPI slf10MG (futaba) Servo the best. the Digital ones burn up anthe other dont seem as strong to me

The Rhino Digi 4 has an override that eliminates burn out. I broke the stock servo and couldn't wait for the metal gears to come into stock or I would have saved some money and bought the gear set.

Rhino Digi 4? who makes that? How is the Torque? all ways can use more

The rhino is made by multiplex, Tower carries them in stock. I put one in my Baja and it made a big difference. Much faster steering and turns when sitting still easily.

Lets see..

383 inch oz torque and 205 inch oz holding power
.10 speed
Aluminium heat sink case, bearings and seals.. the thing is a monster..

In Denmark, the Rhino is considered THE Servo for FG's with MT Wheels.

p.s. Speed is for 40 degrees (.10/40 degrees equals 0.15/60 degrees)

As for the Burn out Override, I have recently heard about severel in Denmark that burned out their Rhino's, due to bad EPA programming.
Conclussion in Denmark: Don't trust the override, program your EPA correctly.

They only weigh twice what the stock servo does.. They are smaller but man they are solid!!!

Does it Bolt right in?

mradlin

All you need to bolt it in is a little "L" shaped piece, it's an adapter and it came with all our baja's when we bought them.

I think I had to cut some tabs off of my stock mount but it doesn't matter because you will never use the stock servo again!!!

I run all digital in every plane, heli, and car i own. I have duralites in everything exept the baja. I like the 2.4 fasst from futaba. you need to run all digital's for the hrs to work. Plus if you don't have digital's with this system then you have to manually set the failsafe everytime to start up. I have pcm for my 3pk but decided to try the 2.4. so far i love it.

Which Hitec are you using?

hal001

the 5745 for steering and the 9351 for throttle and brake. Same ones in my fg truck. the ones in the truck have been in there for couple years now. Plus they are cheap. Little over hundred buck for the 1/4 scale.

What did you get?

VertigoPerformance

If you got a Rhino you may want to consider an aluminium servo horn, I snapped the plastic one on the last outing.

I'm running with a plastic horn, all I did was make sure my limits were not set too far. This way it doesn't put too much strain on the arm. Let us know how you like the rhino!! ;)

Did you find the adapter to make it fit?

VertigoPerformance
04-25-2007, 06:07 AM
The adapter is in the baja kit

Rock Concepts
04-25-2007, 06:19 AM
Thanks I was wondering about that, Do you mean i dont have to make a adapter?

Akela
04-25-2007, 07:53 AM
ohh, make an adapter. I would love a nice aluminum one!

VertigoPerformance
04-25-2007, 04:15 PM
You don't have to make one, there is a thing called an instruction book that came with the Baja ;)
There is explanation in there how to install the smaller servo. I wondered too and was surprised they give you the adapter and instructions.

Enjoy it, the world of steering will never be the same for you now :D

Get the VP Triple pads and alloy caliper, best hop up there is for the braking.
