I've now learned to keep a better eye on my bearings. My 2 clutch bell bearings heated up so mucj the metal blued, and the gear carrier melted, spur gear, and somehow I managed to brake the purple disk that separates the brake disks. So mental note everyone (or at least me) check your bearings!

It is odd the bearings are failing since all bearings are made in China and all are ISO rated.

It is a good idea to open all bearings, remove grease and add light oil

It is too bad the carrier melted.. Maybe someone will come up with a solution for that ;)

I shouldn't have said it was odd.. I had one fail within a tank.. I meant it is odd that this buggy has so many failures compaired to other vehicles..

Hockey game on, can't talk...

The baja has some issues for sure, but I think they are pretty minor in the grand sceme of it all! I think with a little bit more time and all the great aftermarket items coming out everyday (it seems), the baja will only get better and better!

It is a pretty fantastic buggy for the price..

Yes i love my baja. My fg monster truck is cool. But it just doesn't stay planted like the baja. Very cool machine indeed.

Dont know if it helps, but I always repack my bearings with amsoil synthetic grease. So far to date never had a failure. Have replaced a few due to grit and sand in them and not able to get it smooth again. I really like Amsoil products.

I'll give that a try. What's the best way to remove and replace the side covers for the bearings?

Use the tip of an Xacto blade, the rubber has a metal sheath in it, if you are too rough it can be bent but I take all mine apart to clean them. If you bend a cover just place that bearing in a different spot or flip it to the clean side.

To remove the side covers I use a pick set and work my way around the bearing lifting the rubber seals. Seems to work and you get better at it each time you take a bearing apart.

forget all that nosense, mladin go to modelland and buy the greaser, i got mine there a few years ago, he still sells them. It's really cool device. you put bearing in and push new grease into bearings. It actually flushes out old grease with new, you can see all the crude come right out. I actually do this to new bearings as well as most have little to nothing in them. you don't have to take them apart ohttp://peteshobbies.com/prcp/Greaser/grindex.htmf anything. this is the product i'm talking about.

Does that work with all bearings? the stock bearings are not so well sealed but the AVID are double sealed. Do they use allot of grease each time and helicopters don't see the dirt these do, they still work well?
I am going to check out modelland though and see what these things are..

Has anyone tried the greaser yet. It works pretty well guys. I had my clutch appart the other day and one bearing felt a little iffy, i used my greaser and after 5 tanks i had it apart again to chech the bearing and it felt very good again. I must have caught it just at the right time.
