Thats right awhile ago I did this.....You guessed it, put HPI axles on a Firehammer and now i have many great choises of wheels and no more stripping out cheap 12.00 wheels:( on them 19mm hexes....I posted this on another forum awhile back and someone on that same forum took my idea and starting selling it:mad::b: well here is my Firhammer with the HPI axles installed.

What I did for the front setup is....I took an 8mm drill bit and used my drill press and drilled out the center of the HPI axle, then I measured the distance of the old axle and then just cut off the excess amount and used a grade8 bolt 8mm ant used that as the new axle again, and wella the fronts were done..
For the rear I also use the front alxes again, I did the same thing drill the 8mm hole first this way I could slide it over the original axle that was there, then I cut too fit this way I still could use the 8mm jam nut on the inside on the HPI axle....Now I still used the 19mm hex over the HPI axle, I had too drill it our too 12mm first so it would slide over the shaft, then I marked the holes in the 19mm hexs and drilled them out in the HPI axle, this way I had the JAM screws going threw the hex and into HPI axle and too the regular drive axle this way there was 4 pinch points holding the HPI axle in place cause the bAll drive have 3 pinch point instead of 2 like regular 19mm hexes..
Are you lost yet:confused::confused::p:p:p Good it is hard too explain, but it sure does work I have been using this setup for AWHILE now and knock on wood it is going strong......

ok there has been a couple people asking for more detailed pics of this mod, so here is the break down.....( I used front HPI axles for both of these mods)
Ok these are for the FRONTS
I used a 8mm X 70mm hardened steel bolt with lock nut and washer, for the front axle I shortened the end too 17mm from the lip closest too the drive hex, and then drill a 8mm hole all the way threw the axle, and use the hardened bolts as you new axle.....

Now for the rears
I drilled out the rears(stock hpi axles) with an 8mm drill bit,and then took the stock 19mm hex(duratrax)and drilled those out too 12mm to you can slid the duratrax hex over the HPI axle...Now mark where the grube screws go threw the HPI axle and drill them out as well....
Now I shorten my HPI axles too fit the offest of my car cause I have the ball drive conversion, My rear axles stick out 34.55mm from the bearing surface, so I left 11mm from the end of the axle too the lip closest too the drive hex(HPI axle)....
Next slide thethe Duratrax hex over the HPI axle onto the buggy and use the 2 grube screws and tighten down, then use the 8mm nut on the end of the axle as well...

thats cool. thanks this website has some awesome info on it. i used to play with tmaxx's and ive had a couple of savages but this firehammer is by far alot more fun to play with than any of them so far. the wheels and tires on it though are hideous. the baja wheels will look good. Id also like to put a baja body on it of some sort and make it look like a stadium truck or desert racing truck.
